Open An Account

Before you enroll, review the DC College Savings Plan Brochure and  the Program Disclosure Booklet. Once you're ready to start, choose the way you'd like to enroll.

If you are a DC resident, there are three ways to enroll:

  • Enroll online. Opening an account online is secure and takes less than 15 minutes.
  • Enroll by mail. Complete the Participant Agreement (application) and mail it, along with your first check. If you want to make contributions through automatic deposit from a bank account, mail the completed application and a voided check from your bank account.
  • Meet with your financial advisor. Your advisor can review your investment options with you, complete the application for you, or complete the application with you. Your advisor will submit the application along with your first check.

If you live outside DC

If you are not a DC resident and you want to enroll in the DC College Savings Plan, you should use a financial advisor. If you do not have an advisor, use Calvert's free Advisor Finder Service® to locate a qualified advisor near you.

For more information on the DC College Savings Plan, please call 800.987.4859 (800.368.2745 for non-District residents) or contact your financial advisor.  An investor should consider the investment objectives, risks, charges, and expenses of an investment carefully before investing.

The District of Columbia College Savings Trust Program Disclosure Booklet contains this and other information. Read it carefully before you invest or send money.

An investor should also consider, before investing, whether the investor's or designated beneficiary's home state offers any state tax or other benefits that are only available to residents of that state. An investment in another state’s 529 college savings plan may not offer comparable benefits.

The Government of the District of Columbia does not guarantee investments in the program. Investment involves risk, including possible loss of principal.
