About Us

Since 2002, the DC College Savings Plan has enabled over 14,000 families to save more than $387.5 million for their children to go to college.

The DC College Savings Plan is a Section 529 plan created to help families prepare for the substantial cost of higher education. Sponsored by the Government of the District of Columbia and managed by Calvert Investments, the Plan offers special tax advantages that enable participants to maximize their savings potential. And the DC College Savings Plan is the only 529 plan in the country to offer a full range of socially responsible (sustainable) investments.

The Government of the District of Columbia's Role in the DC College Savings Plan

In 2002, the DC Chief Financial Officer (CFO) established the DC College Savings Program Trust. The CFO selected Calvert as the Program Manager to administer the DC College Savings Plan. The DC CFO (or the Treasurer) is responsible for the administration of the Plan, including approving the selection of the Underlying Investments in the Trust and receiving advice from the DC College Savings Program Advisory Board, which meets at least once a year.

The District of Columbia College Savings Trust Program Disclosure Booklet contains this and other information. Read it carefully before you invest or send money.

An investor should also consider, before investing, whether the investor's or designated beneficiary's home state offers any state tax or other benefits that are only available to residents of that state. An investment in another state’s 529 college savings plan may not offer comparable benefits.

The Government of the District of Columbia does not guarantee investments in the program. Investment involves risk, including possible loss of principal.
